Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 10-inch cast iron skillet or line a 9-inch round cake pan with parchment paper.

In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

In a large bowl, beat softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.

Add egg and vanilla extract, beat until combined.

Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
