Step 1

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 10-inch cast iron skillet or line a 9-inch round cake pan with parchment paper.

In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

In a large bowl, beat softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.

Add egg and vanilla extract, beat until combined.

Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.

Press dough evenly into prepared skillet or pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes until edges are golden brown and center is set but still soft. Cool in pan for 10 minutes.
